By now, we’ve all had time to review the Nelson memo and consider its ramifications for publishers of federally funded research. In this event, the latest in our Leadership Forum series, we will discuss what’s next. How can societies best understand the challenges (and perhaps opportunities) presented by the OSTP’s announcement? How can they best assess the memo’s financial impact on societies? How have federal agencies responded to the memo to date? And, as the industry works to answer these questions, have any best practices emerged?
As always, this session is also an opportunity for participants to build their networks through conversations with fellow attendees with similar challenges. We have invited leaders from societies and associations representing a range of disciplines across science and the humanities.
The session will consist of presentations followed by breakout discussions and networking.
